Rivers and Shores

This resource pack was designed with individuals who have profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), along with their families and caregivers, in mind. Commissioned by PAMIS and funded through Shared Care Scotland in 2020-21, the project revolves around the theme of Rivers and Shores. These natural settings can provide both calming and vibrant experiences, creating shared spaces for connection and expression. Originally, funding for this project aimed to engage people with PMLD and their families in multi-sensory celebrations at public river and shore events. The goal was to enhance PAMIS inclusive vision by centering individuals with PMLD within the community. However, due to Covid-19, the initiative shifted to online community gatherings, where participants shared memories of water experiences collaborated on music, storytelling, and art, resulting in a rich collection of inspirational materials and fun activities. We sincerely hope that everyone who uses this pack feels encouraged to collaborate with individuals with PMLD, fostering the creation of multi-sensory stories that enrich both their lives and yours.
